Dr Áine Lombard
Senior Counselling Psychologist
Áine is a Senior Counselling Psychologist and chartered member of the Psychological Society of Ireland
She completed the Doctorate of Counselling Psychology at Glasgow Caledonian University in 2014 and started her career in NHS Scotland working in primary and secondary care mental health settings with individuals across the lifespan. During this time, she received training in identifying autism in the adult population and began conducting assessments. In 2017, she moved into the private practice sector and set up her own business providing psychological assessments and therapy to adolescents and adults in her local area. In 2019, she had the opportunity to work abroad in a very diverse setting at a private medical centre providing psychological therapy to middle eastern people and expatriates. During her time there, she learned about the importance of cultural variances and how they must be attended to in order to successfully provide person-centred care. She set up an autism assessment service within this clinic in 2021, supporting clients from all over the world to better understand themselves through a lens of neurodivergence. In addition to conducting assessments for The Adult Autism Practice, she also specialises in working therapeutically with childhood trauma, couples and provides culturally-sensitive informed psychological therapy within private practice
Áine offers an assessment process that is collaborative, anti-discriminatory, neuro-affirmative and strengths focused to support clients to embark on an exploration of understanding themselves better. This is always carried out in a safe, confidential and supportive setting, where individuals are treated with respect and compassion
