Paloma is a Senior Counselling Psychologist, Chartered member of the British Psychological Society and registered with the UK Health and Care Professions Council
She graduated from University of Madrid, with a BSc (Hons) in Psychology, specialising in Clinical Psychology and Psychology in the Workplace. Her postgraduate qualifications are in Psychodynamic Therapy for adults, children and families, and she also trained further with the Tavistock Clinic in the areas of adolescence, couples therapy and eating disorders
In addition to her work with The Adult Autism Practice undertaking collaborative adult autism assessments, Paloma has worked in private practice with clients from different cultures in both English and Spanish, providing assessment and psychological treatment for over 15 years
Paloma bases her work on a safe, caring, and non-judgemental environment for her clients and helping them to understand and accept their individuality, always keeping in mind their strengths and personal resources. In her therapy sessions, she uses an integrative approach derived from her years of experience with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy and Affirmative Psychology
As someone with first-hand experience, Paloma embraces neurodiversity. She has experience working with neurodivergent young adults in education and providing mental health support. With an important commitment in supporting values that promote diversity in all its dimensions, Paloma has undertaken substantial training on minority stress and supporting the LGBTQIA+ community with the Spanish Psychological Society. She strives to continually improve in her role as an ally to the Autistic and LGBTQIA+ communities
