Joanne is a Chartered Counselling Psychologist with the Psychological Society of Ireland. She has gained valuable experience, working with young people and adults in primary and secondary health services; Trinity College Dublin’s Student Counselling Service and within the HSE Psychology Service for Refugees and Asylum Seekers
Currently residing in France, Joanne is fully accredited there as a psychologist. In all her work, she supports people from neurodivergent communities and from diverse gender, cultural and religious backgrounds
Joanne has a Doctorate of Counselling Psychology from Trinity College Dublin, a Masters in Humanitarian Action from UCD and a BA in Psychology and French from Trinity College Dublin. Prior to her career as a psychologist, Joanne worked as an international child protection specialist for humanitarian NGOs and UN agencies, in countries including Vietnam, Pakistan, East Timor, Angola, Liberia and Haiti
Joanne’s experience extends to supporting people experiencing a range of psychological difficulties related to anxiety; depression; trauma; bereavement; family and relationship problems; and other challenges. Her therapeutic approach is grounded within a person-centred stance, emphasising empathy and respect. Joanne is committed to collaborative, neurodiversity-affirmative identification, emphasising people’s strengths and abilities, while recognizing their different needs and realities
