Mary is a Clinical Psychologist and Chartered member of the Psychological Society of Ireland
Mary obtained her undergraduate degree in Applied Psychology in University College Cork. Mary subsequently obtained a Masters in National University of Ireland, Galway. Mary completed the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in National University of Ireland, Galway. Her doctoral thesis explored the experiences of adoptees entering parenthood. This research was published in a peer-reviewed journal. Mary is currently a member of the Adoption Research Network of Ireland (ARNI). She has a keen interest in qualitative research and feels strongly about the importance of co-production with experts by experience in designing and conducting research and clinical services
Mary has worked in numerous clinical settings, including HSE Child and Adolescent Mental Health; HSE Adult Mental Health; Brothers of Charity Services for both school-aged children and adults; and Tusla Child and Family Agency. Mary has worked across both Ireland and England. Mary has an interest in trauma-informed practice and working with the systems surrounding individuals
Mary is passionate about the neurodiversity-affirmative approach and the importance of developing a meaningful therapeutic alliance, built on trust, respect and the co-creation of meaning. Mary endeavours to create a safe space for clients to express their experiences and identity openly
Mary’s interests outside of work include her gorgeous cats, reading and travel
