Rachel completed her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in University College Dublin (UCD), during which she completed her specialist placement with The Adult Autism Practice. She is delighted to be back working with The Adult Autism Practice again now. Rachel enjoys working collaboratively with people to explore their experiences and discover their Autistic identity. She endeavours to create a safe, comfortable and compassionate space for clients coming for consultations and assessments.
Rachel obtained her B.A. in Psychology from UCD in 2013 and then spent several years gaining experience supporting children and young people within mental health and educational settings. Throughout these years she worked in the USA and Vietnam, before moving to the Netherlands to complete an MSc in Child & Adolescent Clinical Psychology at Leiden University. Upon returning to Ireland in 2018 Rachel began working as an Assistant Psychologist in an Adult Primary Care Psychology service in North Dublin and as a Research Assistant with St. Michael’s House Disability Services.
In 2019 Rachel began the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in UCD, through which she completed placements within Child & Adolescent Mental Health, Primary Care Psychology, Adult Mental Health and Disability services. Rachel’s doctoral research is focussed on Autistic adults’ mental health, specifically investigating Autistic people’s perspectives on the factors that have impacted their mental health throughout life. She worked closely with Autistic colleagues, AsIAm and other members of the Autistic community throughout the research process. She hopes that the findings will increase our understanding of how to prevent mental health difficulties for Autistic people.
